Prevalence os sending, receiving and forwarding sexts among youths: A three-level meta-analysis.

2020

Alttes ajuts: Conselleria d'Educació, Investigació, Cultura i Esport DOGV No. 7943, ACIF, 837 2017 By systematic review with a three-level, mixed-effects meta-analysis, this paper examines the prevalence of sexting experiences among youths aimed at analyzing conceptual and methodological moderators that might explain its heterogeneity. A search was conducted of five bibliographic databases and grey literature up until February 2020. The risk of bias in primary studies was assessed. A total of seventy-nine articles met the set inclusion criteria. Mean prevalences for sending, receiving and forwarding sexts were.14 (95% CI:.12,.17),.31 (95% CI:.26,.36) and.07 (95% CI:.05,.09), respectively, e…

Distinct neural-behavioral correspondence within face processing and attention networks for the composite face effect

2022

The composite face effect (CFE) is recognized as a hallmark for holistic face processing, but our knowledge remains sparse about its cognitive and neural loci. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging with independent localizer and complete composite face task, we here investigated its neural-behavioral correspondence within face processing and attention networks. Complementing classical comparisons, we adopted a dimensional reduction approach to explore the core cognitive constructs of the behavioral CFE measurement. Our univariate analyses found an alignment effect in regions associated with both the extended face processing network and attention networks. Further representational simi…

Unconscious response priming during continuous flash suppression.

2017

Continuous flash suppression (CFS) has become a popular tool for studying unconscious processing, but the level at which unconscious processing of visual stimuli occurs under CFS is not clear. Response priming is a robust and well-understood phenomenon, in which the prime stimulus facilitates overt responses to targets if the prime and target are associated with the same response. We used CFS to study unconscious response priming of shape: arrows with left or right orientation served as primes and targets. The prime was presented near the limen of consciousness and each trial was followed by subjective rating of visibility and a forced-choice response concerning the orientation of the prime…

The Development of Perceptual Sensitivity to Second-Order Facial Relations in Children

2010

This study investigated children's perceptual ability to process second-order facial relations. In total, 78 children in three age groups (7, 9, and 11 years) and 28 adults were asked to say whether the eyes were the same distance apart in two side-by-side faces. The two faces were similar on all points except the space between the eyes, which was either the same or different, with various degrees of difference. The results showed that the smallest eye spacing children were able to discriminate decreased with age. This ability was sensitive to face orientation (upright or upside-down), and this inversion effect increased with age. It is concluded here that, despite early sensitivity to conf…

Local operators to detect regions of interest

1997

The performance of a visual system is strongly influenced by the information processing that is done in the early vision phase. The need exists to limit the computation on areas of interest to reduce the total amount of data and their redundancy. This paper describes a new method to drive the attention during the analysis of complex scenes. Two new local operators, based on the computation of local moments and symmetries, are combined to drive the selection. Experimental results on real data are also reported. © 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.

Multispectral image denoising with optimized vector non-local mean filter

2016

Nowadays, many applications rely on images of high quality to ensure good performance in conducting their tasks. However, noise goes against this objective as it is an unavoidable issue in most applications. Therefore, it is essential to develop techniques to attenuate the impact of noise, while maintaining the integrity of relevant information in images. We propose in this work to extend the application of the Non-Local Means filter (NLM) to the vector case and apply it for denoising multispectral images. The objective is to benefit from the additional information brought by multispectral imaging systems. The NLM filter exploits the redundancy of information in an image to remove noise. A …

Automatic landmark detection and 3D Face data extraction

2017

Abstract This paper contributes to 3D facial synthesis by presenting a novel method for parameterization using Landmark Point detection. The approach presented aims at improving facial recognition even in varying facial expressions, and missing data in 3D facial models. As such, the prime objective was to develop an automatically embedded process that can detect any frontal face in 3D face recognition systems, with face segmentation and surface curvature information. Using the hybrid interpolation method, experiments on facial landmarks were performed on 4950 images from Face Recognition Grand Challenge database (FRGC). Distinctive facial landmarks from the nose–tips, Limits mouth and two e…

Probabilistic Corner Detection for Facial Feature Extraction

2009

After more than 35 years of resarch, face processing is considered nowadays as one of the most important application of image analysis. It can be considered as a collection of problems (i.e., face detection, normalization, recognition and so on) each of which can be treated separately. Some face detection and face recognition techniques have reached a certain level of maturity, however facial feature extraction still represents the bottleneck of the entire process. In this paper we present a novel facial feature extraction approach that could be used for normalizing Viola-Jones detected faces and let them be recognized by an appearance-based face recognition method. For each observed featur…

Clustering techniques for personal photo album management

2009

In this work we propose a novel approach for the automatic representation of pictures achieving at more effective organization of personal photo albums. Images are analyzed and described in multiple representation spaces, namely, faces, background and time of capture. Faces are automatically detected, rectified and represented projecting the face itself in a common low-dimensional eigenspace. Backgrounds are represented with low-level visual features based on RGB histogram and Gabor filter bank. Faces, time and background information of each image in the collection is automatically organized using a mean-shift clustering technique. Given the particular domain of personal photo libraries, wh…

Extraction and fusion of spectral parameters for face recognition

2011

This is the copy of journal's version originally published in Proc. SPIE 7877: http://spie.org/x10.xml?WT.svl=tn7. Reprinted with permission of SPIE. Many methods have been developed in image processing for face recognition, especially in recent years with the increase of biometric technologies. However, most of these techniques are used on grayscale images acquired in the visible range of the electromagnetic spectrum. The aims of our study are to improve existing tools and to develop new methods for face recognition. The techniques used take advantage of the different spectral ranges, the visible, optical infrared and thermal infrared, by either combining them or analyzing them separately …
